The Waterford Early Reading Program has been implemented at Lafayette Meadows Elementary since 2003. Each classroom has a minimum of three Waterford stations funded by grants. All students from kindergarten through second grade participate daily in the Waterford Early Reading Program.
Lafayette Meadows Elementary School has utilized the Waterford Early Reading Program for four consecutive years and has resulted in exemplary student performance. Studies have shown that reading, comprehension, and word usage of students using the program are higher than students that don’t fully utilize the program.
All teachers are exposed to the partnership between classroom instruction and Waterford. To allow the elementary school to see these exemplary results throughout their school, they are making Waterford training available to all teachers and give them the opportunity to fully utilize the program.
The Three-Year Waterford Comparison graph below reflects a compilation of Reading and Comprehension (Level 3) scores based on three years utilizing the Waterford program and less than three years. The results show that students using the Waterford program for three years scored an average of 5 percent higher than those using the program less than three years in reading and comprehension.

The results show that students using the Waterford program for three years scored an average of 3.7 percent higher than those using the program less than three years in word usage.
