New Orders in States Nationwide Confirm School Districts
are Embracing the Vision
MESA, Ariz. – Nov. 13, 2002 – Pearson Education Technologies
(formerly NCS Learn) today announced a new name for the industry’s
first all-inclusive family of integrated Web-based applications
for the K-12 education community: Concert™.
In addition, Pearson Education Technologies announced that seven
school districts have ordered licenses to the Concert online education
community.
Formerly known as the NCS4School™ solution, the Concert online
education community will bring students, parents, teachers, and
administrators together to harmonize their efforts for maximum student
achievement. Building on the leadership position of Pearson Education
Technologies’ wide-ranging products, the Concert solution
will combine standards-aligned instruction, lesson planning, assessment,
educational content, and business office management applications
into one seamlessly integrated online solution to maximize performance
across the education enterprise.
“The Concert online education community is the culmination
of over 40 years of solutions built around the way K-12 educators
teach, communicate, and use technology,” said Mike Morache,
president of Pearson Education Technologies. “Education is,
in many ways, like a musical performance. As individual instrumental
sounds blend together to produce music, individuals involved in
the education process — students, parents, teachers, and administrators
— collaborate to create real, genuine learning. The Concert
online education community brings together all the participants
in a child’s education and provides a place where each can
participate and harmoniously facilitate that learning on a daily
basis.”
Union Public Schools
Union Public Schools in Tulsa, Okla. is the first school district
in the country to license Concert Instruction & Assessment.
The preK-12 school district encompasses 16 schools and serves more
than 13,500 students in southeast Tulsa and northwest Broken Arrow,
Okla. Prior to district-wide implementation, the Instruction &
Assessment component of the Concert solution will be rolled out
in three Union schools: Marshall T. Moore Elementary School, Roy
Clark Elementary School, and the Union Eighth Grade Center. (For
more information, please see the related news release,

Perry Public Schools
Most recently, Perry Public Schools in Perry, Ohio ordered a license
to the Instruction & Assessment component of the Concert online
education community to help implement core strategies in the district’s
new five-year strategic plan, which addresses the No Child Left
Behind Act.
A rural K-12 district, Perry Public Schools comprises three schools
and serves approximately 2,000 students. The district plans to introduce
the Concert online education community to selected classes and grade
levels in each of its three schools, in preparation for a district-wide
rollout.
Districts in five other states — Kansas, Idaho, California,
New Jersey, and Maine — have also ordered licenses for the
Concert Instruction & Assessment product, with implementations
scheduled to begin next year.
