Press Releases  NCS Learn Releases First Module of the NCS4School™ Product Family: The NCS4School Business Solution Comprehensive Web-based Business Solution Simplifies Data-Driven Decision Making across Finance, Procurement, and Human Resources MESA, Ariz. — May 1, 2002 — NCS Learn, a business of NCS Pearson, has begun delivery of the NCS4School™ Business solution, a comprehensive, fully integrated suite of online applications designed for the K-12 business office. NCS4School Business is comprised of three application suites—Finance, Procurement, and Human Resources—the first of which was released this month. NCS4School Business is part of the family of NCS4School™ Internet Solutions, a complete, online education management solution for the K-12 market, announced last year. The NCS4School solution is designed to unify administrative and instructional functions and data on a common foundation of Web portal technology, accessible by teachers, students, parents, and district management. NCS4School Finance Applications The NCS4School Finance applications offer secured, real-time access to financial data via the Web. Accounting and Finance modules include: General Ledger, Budgeting, Accounts Payable, Cash Ledger, Asset Management, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Cost Allocation, Project and Activity Accounting, and Financial Report Writer. NCS4School Procurement Applications The NCS4School Procurement applications offer integrated purchasing applications and strategies, and can help manage the purchasing function more effectively by empowering more users, streamlining processes, and reducing procurement costs. The suite includes: Purchasing, Requisitions, Receiving, Invoice Matching, Inventory Control, and Payables Management. NCS4School HR Applications The modules included in the NCS4School HR applications will help districts efficiently manage HR business practices from employee recruitment to retirement including: Benefits Administration, Payroll, Personnel Administration, Position Management, Professional Development, and Health and Safety Management. Additional Features The NCS4School Business solution is powered by Lawson Software applications, known for their rich functionality. One example is Lawson's Drill Around® functionality, which allows users to navigate through and across all applications to pinpoint data and to quickly view detailed information across funds, departments, or schools. Some unique features specifically for the K-12 environment include the ability to track projects and grants across fiscal years, and an intuitive user interface design. Another is the NCS4School Business Web-based browser interface, eliminating the need to load software. The NCS4School Business applications are scalable for deployment in large and small school districts, without compromising security, reliability, or performance. The NCS4School Business solution uses eXtensible Markup Language (XML), the universal format for data on the Web. Overall, the NCS4School Business solution offers superior capabilities for managing and transacting school district business. System Requirements The NCS4School Business suite is available on the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 platform. System requirements for the initial offering are Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft SQL Server database. The Web interface is supported by Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 browser.
