New Business Poised to Meet the ESEA Bill's Testing
and Accountability Demands
MESA, Ariz. Jan. 17, 2002 Three education software
and curriculum businesses of NCS Pearson have been combined to create
a total education solution of curriculum, assessment, and enterprise
data management products.
The new business, called NCS Learn, represents the combination
of NCS Pearson's K-12 Enterprise Software Solutions group, the SchoolCONNECTxp
application service provider, and the NCS Learn comprehensive courseware
group. With each business bringing some of the most recognizable
and successful brands in the education industry, the new NCS Learn
is poised to meet the testing and accountability demands recently
placed on schools by the recently enacted Elementary and Secondary
Education Act (ESEA) Reauthorization Bill.

together to help schools meet the call for statewide testing and
demonstrable progress toward academic proficiency," said Mike

and Destinations; the new NCS Learn will bring to market
NCS4School,
a completely integrated education solution. The NCS4School solution
suite is an Internet-based offering designed to incorporate the
daily activities of K-12 teachers, parents, students and administrators
into one cohesive, easy-to-use solution to meet critical learning
and information needs. The NCS4School offering will combinefor
the first time everadministrative, instruction and curriculum,
testing and assessment, and collaboration programs into one seamlessly
integrated online solution to help maximize performance across the
education enterprise.
NCS Learn will continue to develop and invest in its many market-leading
products, including the SuccessMaker, NovaNET and Destinations comprehensive
courseware product lines as well as NCS Pearson's Enterprise Software
Solutions product lines. These include the xp series integrated
software suitecross-platform software that works together
to better manage the educational processsuch as the SASIxp
student administrative system, and the InteGrade® Pro web-based
gradebook system.
Also part of the new NCS Learn is the SchoolCONNECTxp
application service provider (ASP) option, which delivers the full
xp series software systems using thin-client technology.
