WriteToLearn™

WriteToLearn™ helps you build students' writing skills and develop reading comprehension. This web-based teaching tool effectively links the inseparable skills of writing and reading for learners in Grades 4-12.

Assignments combine essay and summary writing activities with immediate, targeted feedback. Assessment is automated, so students and teachers receive detailed guidance and feedback. You can provide more writing across your curriculum without increasing the time needed for grading.

WriteToLearn™ is an element of Pearson's solutions for: Middle School, Alternative Education, Credit Recovery, Special Education and RTI, ELL, and K–12.

  • An extensive assignment database offers age-appropriate writing, summary and reading comprehension for every writer in Grades 4-12.
  • Lexile® measures on reading passages available for summary rate reader ability and text difficulty on the same scale.
  • Teachers can allow students to write at home or other writer-friendly spaces thanks to web-based access to the program.
  • Research-based Knowledge Analysis TechnologiesTM (KAT) engine analyzes whole passes to understand the meaning of text, not just grammatical correctness or spelling.
  • Assignments are scored immediately so teachers avoid extra grading and have the information they need to quickly spot and address learning difficulties.
  • Research confirms that students that use of the summarization tool in WriteToLearn demonstrate improved reading comprehension and writing skills. It’s an edge that can make a measurable difference.
