NovaNET Helps Ohio Students Reach New Heights
Challenge:
The Toledo Education Center needed to find a program that would address their large population of at-risk and drop-out students. The program had to be flexible and it had to have the ability to meet the individual needs of their diverse population of non-traditional students, while at the same time providing a quality educational curriculum.
Solution:
A committee formed to address these challenges selected NovaNET, the online curriculum solution from Pearson Digital Learning, as the solution to help them reach their goals.
Results:
According to Earl Apgar, Principal of the Toledo Education Center, the center is realizing a return on its investment in NovaNET thanks to the average daily attendance (ADA) dollars generated for recovered full-time-equivalent (FTE) students. “With increased enrollment, the district may realize a profit of up to a million dollars this year,” said Apgar. “It’s a nice ‘bonus’ on top of the real reward of helping so many students succeed.”
Congratulations to the Toledo Education Center; Pearson Digital Learning is proud to be your partner!

Waterford Early Math & Science Reaches Out with a World to Discover Waterford Early Math & Science leverages a uniquely engaging and age-appropriate learning environment to deliver initial instruction for grades pre-K–2. Waterford’s design motivates students with software as well as print materials that individualize instruction precisely, using embedded assessment and responsive sequencer software. The unmatched breadth and depth of the Waterford curriculum provides every classroom a replicable model of early math and science foundations.
Each of the Waterford Early Math & Science’s three levels is designed to provide a full year of daily instruction. Students work through curriculum in four content areas: Daily Activities, Number Sense, Abstract Math and Reasoning, and Science Concepts. Waterford then reinforces lessons learned at the computer with a family literacy program comprised of student copies of books and videos of songs seen in the software to help reach and involve parents and younger siblings. Leverage Over 40 Years of Proven Effectiveness Research and Development
SuccessMaker® Enterprise's groundbreaking research was initiated at Stanford University over 40 years ago by Professor Patrick Suppes, a pioneer in the field of computer-assisted instruction.
Pearson Digital Learning has taken the foundations of Suppes' early work and—with continued investment and ongoing research—brought to market one of the industry’s most unique and effective curriculum products. In an ongoing effort that builds on the original research, the models of mastery learning that drive SuccessMaker continue to evolve based on analyses of actual student performance data.

Grant-Writing Tip #88—The Right Polish Will Help Your Application Reach Its Target.
To make your final grant application as professional as possible, consider improving your final production process. Try printing on thicker paper, such as 24-lb. bond paper with 90-92 brightness. Set your printer at 600 dots-per-inch, so the ink is darker. If the RFP asks for extra copies of the proposal, send all original high-quality printouts so each reviewer has one. These minor considerations will help extend the reach of your grant proposal.
